FRIENDSHIP KNOWS NO LIMITS

Taking under the protection of the peacekeeping forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) the most important strategic facility of AlES JSC, which is the life support facility of such a major metropolis of the Republic of Kazakhstan as the city of Almaty, largely contributed to the normal and uninterrupted work to provide the city with electricity and heat.

– On January 7, 2022, the security of CHPP-2 was strengthened by the military units of the National Guard, – said Alexander Dovzhik, head of the Civil Defense Emergency Service of AlES JSC. – From January 8, they were replaced by the CSTO peacekeeping forces. Since January 9, peacekeeping forces have also guarded CHPP-1 and CHPP-3. We strengthened the access control and perimeter security of all station territories.

«When we learned about the riots, the staff experienced uncertainty and anxiety. But after the introduction of peacekeeping forces, our workers felt that they were under protection. This gave peace and confidence to the entire staff of the power plant», – said Abzal Zhakpaev, Deputy Chief Engineer for the operation of CHPP-2.

The station workers warmly welcomed the peacekeepers. At CHPP-1, pilaf was prepared for the children from Tajikistan, hot tea is always for them. At CHPP-2 they fed us lunch.

– By mutual agreement, our cooks from the station canteen prepared breakfasts and lunches for peacekeepers from their products. In the evening they cook themselves. We provided the guys with a theropod, a microwave, a kettle. We bought sweets, cookies, tea, coffee for them, so that the guys could have a snack, – said Gulnara Zhamanbalanova, chairman of the trade union committee of CHPP-3.

Soldiers and officers of the CSTO military contingent, who kept a round-the-clock watch at production, did not allow any illegal actions, contributing to the preservation of all production facilities of power plants and its property in full integrity.

On January 12, peacekeepers at CHPP-1 and CHPP-2 were replaced by military units of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and at CHPP-3 from January 13, 2022.

The staff of JSC "AlES" expresses its deep gratitude to the soldiers and officers of the military contingent of the CSTO peacekeeping forces from the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Kyrgyzstan, which was sent to guard the Almaty stations.

All this suggests that in the most critical days for Kazakhstan and its multinational people, the presence of a peacekeeping military contingent once again showed that there are no borders for true friendship.
