"BE ON TREND!" OR THE TOP 8 INTERNATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL ACTIONS. PART 1
After holding the largest environmental action on the planet on March 28 - "Earth Hour", which was joined by about two billion people around the world, and the purpose of which is to attract people to the problem of resource depletion. And this action takes the 1st place among environmental actions held at the global level. In this article, we will begin to get acquainted with seven more international events aimed at protecting the environment — from cleaning reservoirs, planting trees to abandoning the car for one day.
2ND PLACE. WATER PROTECTION
In 1993, the UN General Assembly proclaimed March 22 as World Water Day. Since then, every year on this date, a certain topic related to the conservation of water resources has been set. For example, this year's holiday will be dedicated to the role that water plays in creating high-quality jobs. Today, according to the UN, half of the world's working population — 1.5 billion people-are employed in areas related to water resources. Thematic events were held in major cities of the world on March 22: exhibitions in museums, forums and educational lectures.
3ND PLACE. MAKE WAY FOR SEEDLINGS
The World Forest Planting Day was first held in 2011, when the UN declared the year the International Year of the Forest. This action takes place as follows: forestry enterprises prepare in advance for the holiday, allocate territories for landscaping and the necessary amount of planting material. Then they recruit a group of volunteers who want to participate in the action, and tell them about the rules for planting young trees. By taking part in this action, you can feel like a creator, not a destroyer.
4ND PLACE. PARKS, TO THE START
The March of Parks is an international large-scale environmental action that is held every year on April 22. The holiday is of a public nature, uniting all caring people around the idea of supporting protected natural areas. During the" March of Parks", nature reserves, national parks, nature reserves and other environmental and non-governmental organizations initiate and conduct environmental events, thematic exhibitions, volunteer assistance actions and charity fundraising in support of specially protected natural areas.
5ND PLACE. MOTHER WATER
