ENVIRONMENTAL CAMPAIGNS START IN ALES: «HAND OVER THE BATTERIES - SAVE THE PLANET!», «LET'S SAVE THE GREEN PLANET»

Employees of Almaty Electric Stations JSC will take part in the environmental campaigns "Hand over the batteries – save the planet!" and "Save the Green Planet", which starts on April 18, 2022 and is organized in the Company for the fourth time and has already become a good habit.

Battery (fr. batterie) – two or more electrical elements connected in parallel or in series. Usually, this term refers to the connection of electrochemical sources of electricity /electric current (galvanic cells, batteries, fuel cells).

WHY ARE BATTERIES SO HARMFUL?

"One size AA battery contains up to 10% alkali, which decomposes in nature for more than 100 years. Once in a regular trash bin, the battery can eventually pollute up to 20 sq.m. meters of soil or 400 liters of water. Used batteries should be disposed of on equipment that would provide the necessary environmental safety. We hope that the Company's employees will support us, because the ecology issue never loses its relevance."

WHAT CAN BE DONE TO PREVENT THIS?

Primarily:

– you can reduce battery consumption by replacing them with reusable batteries;

– take batteries to collection points or take part in an environmental campaign;

– do not dispose of used batteries and accumulators together with other garbage.

On the body of each battery, the manufacturer places a special sign (an image of a crossed-out trash can) indicating the inadmissibility of disposal together with household garbage.

Every day, a huge amount of paper is thrown out of offices and houses all over our country. With proper handling and minimal effort on the part of each of us, this paper can be used repeatedly, saving thousands of trees.

WHY COLLECT WASTE PAPER?

– Paper production can greatly harm the environment, especially at the first stages of the production process. A lot of toxins (formaldehyde, chlorine dioxide and others) get into the environment;

– Paper recycling reduces the amount of energy consumed by production enterprises. According to various estimates, a properly organized waste recycling process can reduce the amount of electricity used from 40% to 65%;

– The organization of the process of processing cardboard, waste paper, helps to reduce the volume of deforestation.

According to statistics, over the past few decades, humanity has begun to use 4-5 times more paper, we consume millions of tons annually. More than a third of all trees cut down on the planet are sent to pulp and paper mills, and only 16% of the total number are trees specially grown for industry. Recycling a ton of paper, depending on the quality and type, can save from one to two tons of wood.

Participation in a separate gathering instills environmental responsibility and accuracy in the company's employees, gives rise to satisfaction from a useful business that unites and unites the team.
