Environmentalists said that the concentration of harmful substances in the air has significantly decreased, Almaty residents simply became easier to breathe. All this happened because of empty roads and closed businesses. However, experts admitted that these improvements are temporary, because soon the restrictions will be lifted, the city will return to its former life and Almaty will again be covered with a gray veil.
Public figure Zhanna Nurseitova said that she had not seen stars in the Almaty sky for a long time. She noted that the mountains became more clearly visible, the air became transparent. Zhanna positively assesses the impact of quarantine on the ecology of the metropolis. Environmentalists estimate that the Almaty air has become cleaner by almost 30 percent, CO2 emissions have decreased, a few months ago, according to them, emissions were 4 times higher than normal. Deputy Chairman of the eco-union "Tabigat" Timur Yeleusizov said that during the quarantine we can see improvements. According to the ecologist, the plants in the southern capital began to feel much better.
Nature begins to assert its rights while people are sitting in their homes. Pheasants and ducks have already been seen in the city.
It is noted that similar changes have been seen around the world. Americans saw deer on their streets, residents of one of the Turkish cities watched wild boars, and in Argentina, sea lions basked in the sun instead of tourists. Source: CPC.
Recall that quarantine measures are in effect in Almaty due to the situation with the spread of coronavirus infection. The southern capital ranks first in the republic in terms of the number of cases of CVI. 1422 people were infected with coronavirus in the metropolis. Almaty is the only city in Kazakhstan where the number of infected people has exceeded the mark of 1 thousand people.
