Heat and light to each house

“Almaty Power Stations” JSC as the large generation company, carries out highly professional work on providing uninterrupted power and heat supplies of the Almaty region. The share of development of the heat electric power from the total consumption on the Almaty region is: on the electric power – 72% (for 2011 5,4 billion kWh; total consumption of 7,5 billion kWh), on heat power – 70% (for 2011 5,7 million Gcal; total consumption of 8,4 million Gcal.).

The age of power sources of “AlES” JSC – from 31 year to 76 years. For maintenance of the current level of production of power sources, the repair campaign is waged in full in 2011 according to the approved schedule. All power equipment is repaired for 100%, repair costs amounted 4.5 billion tenge.

In order to ensure trouble-free operation of the generating equipment necessary reserves of fuel, chemical reagents and repair parts for operational needs of power sources of “AlES” JSC are created. Monthly reserves of coal of 454.1 thousand tons and fuel oil of 43.4 thousand tons are created.

The Passport of Committee of the state power supervision and control of MINT RK about readiness for service in the autumn and winter period of 2011-2012 were received on November 22, 2011.

Considering considerable age of power sources, in 2011 the reconstruction was carried out and the followings were commissioned:

- Water-cooling towers on CHPP-2 and CHPP-3. As a result of project implementation, the gain of the available power capacity, due to removal of the existing restrictions, will make 132 MW that will allow to develop in addition more than 585 million kWh per year of the electric power. It will promote increase in reliability of power supply in the Almaty region.

- Ash dumps on the CHPP-1 and CHPP-3 ensuring trouble-free operation of power plants.

Due to the deficit of the electric power in the south of Kazakhstan in November-December, 2011, at the request of “AlmatyEnergoSbyt” LLP “AlES” JSC increased production of electric power over contractual obligations by 36% in November and 19% in December, without having allowed restriction of consumers of the Almaty region. Generation of heat energy for November-December, 2011 has grown in comparison with the same period of 2010 by 11% and has made 1.6 million Gcal.

“AlES” JSC has defined a number of the first-priority strategic projects directed to increase in capacities: commissioning of a boiler room and boiler unit No. 8 on CHPP-2; two gas turbine blocks on CHPP-1; construction of Kerbulak hydroelectric power plant.

All measures of “AlES” JSC for maintenance of production provide reliable heat and power supply of the Almaty city during the heating period of 2011-2012.

“Almaty Power Stations” JSC is a part of “Samruk-Energy” JSC. The Almaty power stations are the main power source of the Almaty region and provide about 70% of heat of a zone of district heating and 72% of the electric power.

The power complex of “AlES” JSC includes in the structure: CHPP-1, CHPP-2, CHPP-3, West Heat complex, Kapshagay hydroelectric power station, Almaty Hydroelectric Power Chain, Industrial Repair Company “Energoremont”, FRDC.

The Almaty CHPP-2, which is a part of “Almaty Power Stations” JSC is the largest coal-dust station of Kazakhstan on the combined generation of electric and heat energy. The CHPP-2 provides the Almaty region with the heat and electric power.

Almaty CHPP-2 is a thermal power station of original type. In order to increase in level of seismic safety the station is buried on depth of 12 meters. The boiler units with a steam generating capacity of 420 t/hour in seismic execution have been introduced at the station for the first time in the country. Installed capacity of CHPP-2 is 510 MW.
