ALES - Kapchagayskaya HPP named after sh. chokin

The design of the Kapchagai HPP was carried out by the Kazakh branch of the All-Union Design and Survey Institute "Gidroproekt" named after S. Ya. Beetle in 1959 , with the revision of the project in 1961-1964

In 1965, by the order of the Council of Ministers of the Kazakh SSR No. 266-R of 25.02.65, the directorate of the Kapchagai HPP under construction was created and its construction began.

On October 1, 1970, by the order of the Council of Ministers of the Kazakh SSR, the Kapchagai HPP enterprise became part of Almatyenergo.

In 1980, the construction of the Kapchagai HPP was completed and an acceptance certificate was signed by the state Commission for the completed construction of the Kapchagai HPP.

The Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Kazakhstan adopted Resolution No. 423 of 12.05.92 on limiting the maximum level of the reservoir to 479 m.

Mashzal of the Kapchagai HPP In 1996, the Kapchagai HPP became part of the Almaty Power Consolidated JSC (a subsidiary of the Belgian company Traktebel.After the reform of the Agroindustrial Complex JSC, the Kapchagai HPP began operating on February 15, 2007. as a part of JSC "Almaty electric stations".
